1. Wearing them makes me feel like I'm working, so I work faster and with more focus so I can get done and take them off. I do not love shoes of any sort, but lace-up shoes are especially annoying. It's a Flylady thing. Try it. Just like shining the sink. It works.

Now it all makes sense. I thought it might be a Flylady thing... I hate lace-ups, too.
And I thought the pic was something beachy because of the sand, but the bright green was throwing me off.
